Every cloud

Today was a bit shitty.

I’ve never been a great fan of Wednesday, aptly named hump day as generally I’ll have the hump.

Today was to not be much better, peaking with the untimely demise of a family pet in a freaky accident. Cue one traumatised muddy mum and three howling children.

Feeling glum the obvious course of action was to either seek refuge at the gym or find solace at the bottom of a glass of vodka. Thankfully my desire to lose a stone is stronger than my desire to drink and so arranged to meet up with a friend and kick the crap out of Wednesday.

Post workout and things are looking a little brighter, as we are leaving my friend asks;

Has Mr Muddy done the three peaks?

Me: hmmph, yeah. He got to do it and I had the kids. (Bitter? Hell yeah!) πŸ˜‰

Her: I’m doing it, our team needs a fourth member. You in?

Am I in? Of course I’m flipping in!

Some of you may have seen my post at New Year where I shared my hopes and dreams for the year. If you missed it, it’s here.
For those of you who have never heard of the three peaks challenge, it involves walking the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. Because I am a little bit odd I think that sounds absolutely amazing!

Turns out the big black cloud that has been my day has a rather glittery, silver lining. Sadly we won’t possibly be doing the challenge this year (Boo!), but hopefully there may be room for negotiation/blackmail/bribery.

What else to do with my exciting news but of course share it on my blog, my intentions to publish at a decent hour. A pleasant bedtime read if you will. For all two of you. πŸ˜‰

Sadly however it wasn’t to be. To end the day fittingly there is now a child vomiting in the house.
Somebody pass me the vodka, it would seem that Wednesday hasn’t quite finished with me yet.

  1. Sad to hear about your pet; always a traumatic time. Three peaks – bit much for me but wow – go for it. I sympathize with your vomiting child. Thankfully mine have flown the nest but I did have a 3am wake-up call last Friday with a grand-daughter staying over and deciding to have a bad throat! Got out of the habit of these things. Good luck with the caching.

  2. So sorry for the loss of your pet. We just recently lost our cat. I would have never guessed how hard it would be.

      1. Yeah, this was our first loss with a pet. He was only 4, and it was so scary to watch him die in front of me. So sad. We have 2 more, after those 2 pass, I don’t think we will adopt anymore, as much as we love cats.
